Hey! I’m Blake, a 20 year old artist studying Mediavormgeving at Alfa-college Groningen. I’m a third year student specializing in various forms of 2D art. I love making illustrations, concept art, pixel art and game assets! I’ve been drawing traditionally ever since I can remember and started creating digital art in 2021 when I got my first Ipad. Since then, I’ve been more serious about making art and actively working to improve in various skills. Besides my studies I love to create art for others, whether this is through commissions, art trades or just as a gift!
Programs I use
- Procreate
- Aseprite
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe Illustrator
- Adobe Indesign
- Adobe Premiere Pro
- Live2D
A project organized by my school: Alfa-college. I am working together with a small team to create posters based on poems by Arjen Boswijk. We are combining various traditional art techniques and turning these into posters that will be printed in A3 size!
This project is currently still ongoing!
The first finished poster! This poster was made by carving in a linoleum block. The result was then scanned and I edited the colors and text onto it in Photoshop.
Three concept sketches I made. When sketching I kept in mind the technique I was going to use. I wanted to use only two colors, white and dark blue or black.
Together with the poet Arjen Boswijk, we decided to go for the third sketch and turn that into the final poster.
Three concept sketches for a different poster, which is still being worked on! This poem was about a director with long curly hair. This poster will be made by using the etching technique. We decided to go for the first design for this one.
Three concept sketches for a poster about molluscs and receiving letters. I will be using a combination of techniques for this poster. We decided to use the third design for this one.
Three concept sketches for a poster about "hagelslag" (chocolate sprinkles) in fall. I will be using photography and photobashing for this poster.
A project organized by my school: Alfa-college. I worked with a small team to create various illustrations and animations based on a Greek vase. The goal was to make the museum more interesting for young people.
Example of some of the assets I created for this project. These are 2 frame animations made in Illustrator. The characters will speak and tell some information about themselves. This way, the information gets told in a more interesting manner!
This is the vase this project was based on. We took each of the characters on the vase and turned them into illustrations based on the original style of the vase.
Some of the sketches I made for this project. I quickly sketched these, trying to stick to the original style of the characters on the vase.
A mock-up RPG style game I created in GameMaker Studio. My first ever use of GameMaker.
Screenrecording of the gameplay in GameMaker. All assets and coding by me.
There are no core gameplay mechanics, but I programmed in a working depth system (the player can walk behind and in front of objects). I also added transitions when switching between certain rooms and a simple start menu. I never finished the text dialogue you see when talking with the NPC but it is functional.
Some concept art I drew when designing the NPC and player.
The NPC character is a young woman who lives in the red mansion. She needs to look sophisticated but also gentle, sweet and caring.
When designing the player character, I first made her have a red shirt to fit in with the mansion. I later realized that I instead want her to stand out, which is why I ended up choosing a blue shirt instead.

A quick character design I made based on a prompt ~2,5 hours
The first concept sketches I made for this character design. I knew I wanted a tall silhouette (moves like the wind and shadow inspired). I was first thinking of giving him a large cape, but wanted his character to be more unique. I ended up changing his cape to long hair instead, which flows behind him like a shadow.
The finalized character design sheet(s). I tried to quickly sketch the character while still making the most important details about his character stand out. I show the two versions of his hair (standing, calm versus what he looks like in a fight or assassination). I also added an additional reference showing his body type and body scarring.
